SKLM and Native Tape Drive Capacities

By Rick Robinson posted Mon June 24, 2019 02:02 PM

With the introduction of capacity-based licensing for Security Key Lifecycle Manage (SKLM), we frequently get requests regarding the methodology for determining the storage capacity of various models of tape drives.

When licensing SKLM, we do not worry about the number of cartridges that are being used, but more so the maximum native capacity of the drive itself (regardless of kind or quantity of cartridges are being used).

To determine the maximum native capacity, users need to reference the technical specifications of their particular drive model.  To help in this effort, the following list provides known maximum native capacity of various drive models and a reference to that information.
