MaaS360: Everyone could use a Checklist!

By Margaret Radford posted Wed April 21, 2021 03:00 PM

I don't know about you, but I live by daily checklists whether it be in my work or personal life. There's nothing like an itemized list of to-dos to keep you motivated and on track!  I've also spoken to a lot of our midsize and small MaaS360 customers who say that they just want an itemized list of tasks to get set up or even just to refer to  after they have initially set up MaaS360, as a refresher.
With that in mind, the MaaS360 Customer Success team created 8  checklists around  deployment tasks for configuring MaaS360 to mange Apple, Android, and Windows devices. The MaaS360 portal also has a Quick Start and Guided Walkthroughs, which are referenced in these checklists.

Getting Started Checklist
New MaaS360 customer and/or administrators, can complete a 10-step checklist to get started with MaaS360.

Android Device Owner Deployment Checklist
This MaaS360 Deployment Checklist helps MaaS360 administrators set up and deploy MaaS360 with simple deployment steps referencing training content and documentation focused on a company owned Android device deployment use case using MaaS360 integration with Android Enterprise. Note that when deploying Android Enterprise devices where you have full control over the device, this is considered a work device and is designated as Device Owner mode. If you plan to manage devices where there is a separate work profile on a BYOD device without full control over the entire device, that is called Profile Owner.

Android Work Profile (BYOD) Deployment Checklist
This MaaS360 Deployment Checklist helps MaaS360 administrators set up and deploy MaaS360 with simple deployment steps referencing training content and documentation focused on a personally-owned BYOD Android device deployment use case using MaaS360 integration with Android Enterprise. Note that when deploying Android Enterprise devices where a work profile is set up on a personally-owned device to store work apps and data in a separate container, this is called Profile Owner mode.

Apple Business Manager (ABM) for iOS Deployment Checklist
This MaaS360 Deployment Checklist provides a task list to help MaaS360 administrators set up and deploy MaaS360 on iOS company owned devices that are integrated with Apple Business Manager. This integration provides company's full control over the device based on a profile and policy configured in the MaaS360 portal. Unlike Bring Your Own Device or personally owned devices, there is no separate work and personal profile on the device, giving the administrators the ability to require MDM enrollment in order to access company resources and and also apply many restrictions.

Basic iOS Device Management Deployment Checklist
This MaaS360 Deployment Checklist helps MaaS360 administrators set up and deploy MaaS360 with simple deployment steps referencing training content and documentation focused on basic iOS device management. Basic iOS device management is for companies who do not require advanced management capabilities. Devices are either owned by the end user and not taking advantage of iOS User Enrollment, or they are company owned and are not supervised using Apple Business Manager(ABM) or Apple Configurator2 (AC2). There is no separation of work and personal content in this use case without the addition of the MaaS360 Secure Productivity Suite.

Windows 10 Deployment Checklist
This deployment checklist provides MaaS360 administrators a task list referencing training content and documentation focused on deploying and managing Windows 10 (Professional, Enterprise, Education, Home) devices with MaaS360 using manual enrollment methods. Note: Windows 10 Home devices are enrolled in the MaaS360 Portal in DTM mode, which uses traditional agent-based management that is normally used for Windows 7, while Windows 10 (Education, Enterprise, Professional) devices are enrolled in MDM mode, which uses modern management capabilities built on the Windows 10 MDM APIs.

Apple Business Manager for macOS Deployment Checklist
This deployment checklist provides simple deployment steps referencing training content and documentation focused on a corporate owned MacOS device deployment use case using MaaS360 integration with Apple Business Manager(ABM). Note that the Device Enrollment Program and Volume Purchase Program are now completely integrated in ABM

Basic macOS Management Deployment Checklist
This checklist provides simple deployment steps referencing training content and documentation focused on basic macOS device management. Basic macOS device management is for companies who do not require advanced management capabilities. Devices are either owned by the end user and not taking
advantage of macOS User Enrollment, or they are company owned and are not supervised using Apple Business Manager(ABM) or Apple Configurator2 (AC2). There is no separation of work and personal content in this use case without the addition of the MaaS360 Secure Productivity Suite.
