How to Reset Password for IBM id admins in the Maas Portal

MaaS360 enables administrators to easily reset an IBM ID admin's password using the Reset Password option in the Admin Actions menu. This feature allows administrators with the proper roles to manage account access efficiently by resetting passwords when necessary. By following a simple, step-by-step process, you can ensure that administrators regain access to their accounts securely and promptly.

Steps to Reset IBM ID Admin Password

  • Login to the IBM MaaS360 Portal: Log in to the MaaS360 portal with your IBM ID credentials.
  • Navigate to the Administrator Page: After logging in, go to the Setup-> Administrator section. All administrators created for the customer account will be displayed here.
  • Verify Administrator Roles: Ensure that the Reset Password option is available. Any admin with the Service Administrator role can perform the Reset Password action for other administrators.
  • Note: The reset password action can only be performed for other IBM ID admins and is not available for self-reset.
  • Select the Reset Password Action: All administrators created for the customer account are listed here. To find the admin whose password you want to reset, click on the Username column, enter the admin name, and click Search. Once the desired admin appears, review the details carefully. Click on the Reset Password option from the Admin Actions menu to proceed. Confirm the Action: You will be redirected to a confirmation page,click on the Confirm button to proceed.
  • Security check: You will then be prompted to enter a password to proceed with the action. Enter password and click on confirm button

  • Receive Password Reset Success Notification: You will receive a password reset success message stating that an email has been sent to the selected administrator's email address with instructions to reset the password.
  • Access the Reset Password Email: Go to the admin's email inbox and locate the Reset Password email. Click on the reset link provided in the email.
  • Enter the IBM ID: After clicking the Reset Password link, you will be redirected to the "Reset Your Password" page. Enter the IBM email ID you want to reset and click the Continue button.

  • Enter the Passcode: You will then be directed to a page to enter the passcode. Check the respective email for the 14-digit passcode, enter it, and click Continue.

  • Create a New Password: Once the passcode is verified, you will be directed to a page to create a new password. Enter the new password and click Continue.

  • Success Confirmation: You will then receive a success message stating that your new password has been activated.

  • Log In with the New Password: Finally, log in to the admin account using the new password. The account should now be accessible with the updated credentials.

Use Cases:

Forgotten Admin Password:
If an administrator forgets their password and cannot access the IBM portal, any admin with the Administrator role can perform the reset password action to help them regain access.

Security Breach Prevention:
Regularly performing the password reset action for administrator accounts helps prevent potential security breaches by ensuring passwords remain secure and up to date.
