According to Statista, global data creation is set to skyrocket from 149 zettabytes in 2024 to over 394 zettabytes by 2028—a staggering 164.43% increase. This unprecedented growth highlights the urgent need for robust data protection, encryption and key management across on-premises and cloud environments. Organizations face the challenge of managing encryption across on-premises and cloud environments, often resulting in fragmented systems and inconsistent key management practices. To tackle this complexity, IBM® Guardium® Key Lifecycle Manager offers a streamlined, centralized solution for managing encryption keys effectively.

Today, we’re excited to announce the release of IBM Guardium Key Lifecycle Manager 5.0, bringing enhanced usability, security, and scalability to meet diverse key lifecycle needs. This latest version introduces a suite of innovative features designed to simplify deployment, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen encryption infrastructures.

Redesigned user interface and experience
The platform now features a Carbon Design-based GUI that provides an intuitive, user-friendly experience. Enhanced navigation and usability make managing your encryption keys easier and faster. This includes:
  • New encryption endpoint catalog: the newly added Catalog feature enables seamless discovery and management of all supported encryption endpoints. This addition significantly reduces complexity and saves time for administrators.
  • Simplified HSM configuration: configuring Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) is now more straightforward with a new, intuitive UI. Setting up master keys and managing encryption processes no longer require advanced expertise.
  • Action items dashboard for better task management: the new Action Items section gives administrators a clear overview of required tasks and their status, ensuring no critical actions are overlooked.
Support for Oracle TDE on AIX environments
IBM Guardium Key Lifecycle Manager 5.0 expands endpoint compatibility to include Oracle Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) for AIX-based environments, addressing the needs of enterprises with diverse database configurations.
Conformance with KMIP v3.0 and FIPS 140-3 for enhanced interoperability
This release ensures compliance with the latest Key Management Interoperability Protocol (KMIP) v3.0 and FIPS 140-3, enhancing interoperability across a broader range of systems.
