New Integration Partner for IBM Security Verify: Keyless for biometric, passwordless authentication

The IBM Security Verify portfolio regularly develops new integrations both internally and with third party solutions as part of the IBM Security App Exchange and new Technology Alliance Program. IBM Security Verify strives to provide a broad range of integrations supporting a wide array of use cases including third party authentication mechanisms, HR systems, downstream apps, third party identity management solutions, risk engines, and more.

Our newest integration partner is Keyless, whose biometric technology provides organizations with passwordless authentication.

Passwordless authentication technologies are alternatives to traditional passwords and can be used alone, or as part of a multi-factor authentication (MFA) requirement. Passwordless technologies typically fall into one of three categories:

  1. Biometrics, which identifies users by a physical characteristic, or combination of (such as a fingerprint, face scan, voice print, or unique behaviors)
  2. Cryptographic tokens (including hardware and software keys), and
  3. Device authentication (which enables user access from authorized devices).

The use of biometrics in passwordless authentication is one of the strongest security approaches organizations can take when it comes to employee and customer logins. As the risk of data breaches and attacks, such as credential stuffing, are only set to continue - both in hybrid workplaces, which have to account for a mix of company and personal devices accessing systems, and the online consumer space  - the value of strong authentication can’t be understated.

As organizations increasingly plan for a more people-centric approach, which requires technology that is interoperable across devices, Keyless’ biometric authentication software enables a seamless passwordless experience, either as part of single or multi-factor authentication. Together, Keyless and IBM can provide organizations with a quick-to-implement passwordless authentication solution for employees and consumers that does not store or process biometric data, passwords, personal cryptographic keys and other sensitive data.
