What’s new in the IBM i2 portfolio (June 2020 release)?

With the June 2020 releases, IBM i2 continues to help accelerate analysis and intelligence production. Specifically, new releases include: 

  • IBM i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis 2.3.2
  • IBM i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis Distributed Deployment Example 2.3.2
  • IBM i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis Developer Essentials 2.3.2
  • IBM i2 Connect 1.0.2
  • IBM i2 Analyst's Notebook Premium 9.2.2
  • IBM i2 Analyst's Notebook 9.2.2
  • IBM i2 Chart Reader 9.2.2
  • IBM i2 Analyst's Notebook SDK Addendum 8.9.7.1 (Fix Central)


June 2020 release highlights include the following portfolio enhancements (and more):

  • Chart store for collaboration: Allow i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis analysts to collaboratively save, version and load charts to the Information Store. Analysts can search across stored charts, quickly finding prior analysis and insights. First available in i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis 2.3.1 Fix Pack 1.
  • Enhanced find matching records and system matching rules: Apply system-wide or custom matching rules across links to quickly fuse information with the chart and the i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis' information store and allow users to un-unite previously united records.   
  • Enhanced system matching rules: Allow an Administrator to define matching rules for links in addition to entity matching rules. Both links and entities added through i2 Connect are matched against existing charted i2 Connect records as well as imported records on the chart.
  • Seeded search from iBase records: Charted records from an i2 iBase database can be used as seeds for searches across an external search data source (i2 Connect and i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis users). First available in i2 Connect 1.0.1 Fix Pack 1 and i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis 2.3.1 Fix Pack 1.
  • Support for geographic ellipses with "i2 Maps": Use ellipses or circles stored with a chart item to represent the item as an area around a set point on a map. Ellipse or point radius data for an item is stored as a JSON string. For i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis users, ellipse JSON data can be stored directly in information store text fields. First available via 1Q Fix Pack.
  • Enhanced bulk import mode: Delivers performance and flexibility improvements for bulk ingestion of data when using IBM Db2 with the i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis' information store. This mode is particularly well suited to ingesting large amounts of data from an external source for the first time. 
  • Desktop client plugin new functionality: the i2 Analyst's Notebook SDK Fix Pack enables the development of plug-ins that can interact with "i2 Analyze" records on charts and in the i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis information store. The distribution includes API documentation and sample projects. This update is relevant to organizations using i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis.
