What’s New in the IBM i2 portfolio (December 2018) !

The IBM i2 offering management and development team would like to share highlights of our 4Q18 release, available today, December 18:

  • IBM i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis 2.2.1 – enhancements to i2 Connect data acquisition and ETL correlation, as well as i2 Analyst’s Notebook Premium and i2 iBase enhancements below
  • IBM i2 Analyst’s Notebook Premium 9.1.1 (working with Information Store): save visual queries, alerts, export results of visual queries and quick search, live formatting
  • IBM i2 Analyst's Notebook 9.1.1 (also for Premium) – improvements to charting interactions
  • IBM i2 iBase 8.9.13 - chart updating, performance and currency enhancements
  • IBM i2 Analyze 4.2.1, IBM i2 Analyze Developer Essentials 4.2.1

Highlights:

  • Enhancements to easy, ad hoc data connector creation using i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis i2 Connect: First announced in June 2018, our December release offers these enhancements:
    • Adds seeded search in addition to parameterized search, i.e. using selected records from a chart as “seeds” for the search such as to find records with similar properties
    • Adds option for an analyst to selectively submit to the Information Store
    • Now includes ability for parallel configuration of i2 Connect and the Information Store
  • Enhancements to ETL correlation with i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis: Our 4Q release offers the ability to unmerge previously merged records
    • Allows users the capability to import and merge / unmerge fully correlated records
  • Enhancement for i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis users of Visual Query: This release, adds user-specific save query and alerting via i2 Analyze and i2 Analyst’s Notebook Premium:
    • Allows re-use of multiple complex visual queries, saving users time by not needing to re-produce
    • Adds ability for users to be alerted when visual query results change; the user does not have to re-run queries to ensure latest updates apply
    • Offers option to export selected results or entire results list from visual queries, alert notifications, expand with conditions and quick searches, to csv files
  • Usability enhancements for i2 Analyst’s Notebook and i2 Analyst’s Notebook Premium users:
    • Adds live formatting, i.e. conditional format specifications applied automatically to data from the Information Store (i2 Analyst’s Notebook Premium only)
    • Improves ease of selection on crowded charts: new partial icon selection capability
    • Improves chart interactions: new and changed mouse button functionality
    • Improves chart layout: certain layouts display in packed format, some can be cancelled
    • Adds larger fonts for emphasis: size now up to 720 points when creating charts
  • Enhancements for i2 iBase users: This release offers our large i2 Base user community a number of enhancements:
    • Improves performance of Browse tool: when using the configurable browse capability, results are returned and displayed significantly faster, improving responsiveness for larger amounts of data
    • Enhances interaction with i2 Analyst’s Notebook chart: ability to update i2 iBase chart items when the data changes in the data base, thus improving efficiency with automatic updates and offering the flexibility to selectively update items
    • Support / currency: Support added for Esri ArcGIS 10.6 (used with i2 iBase GIS Interfaces) and currency updates for increased security
