We have disabled some components but still we are able to see metrics and tables related to that component. Why is it so?

We have disabled servers, storage and data center related components. However, we are still able to view and check-out the related metrics and tables.

Do we have an option to uninstall the component completely and remove the related tables and metrics as well? So that we can install it later if its needed again.

Or Is there an option to disable individual metrics instead of deleting?

@Nishita Jally  You can manually delete the metrics and tables left behind when you disable the component.  If you reenable to component, the deleted documents will not be created again immediately, but you'll find that the deleted documents are marked as Customized Elements on the Component, and you can then revert the customization to bring back the documents.

But, in most circumstances I would suggest leaving the documents in place.  If there is no data or allocations associated they will not do any harm  i.e. not have a noticeable performance penalty.

Things to consider, in order of increasing impact to the model:

  • Remove unwanted metrics from allocation lines. I would always leave Cost
  • Disable allocation lines, e.g. by setting a condition that will never happen
  • You can remove allocation lines altogether
  • You can remove objects and tables. Personally, I would load a file with a single line and not removing anything, just in case. This would definitely improve performance, if that's what you're after (I think not)
  • I don't know whether you can uninstall components. Apptio should answer this one.

All the best, @Nishita Jally!
