We’ve been trying to establish a connection from IBM Cognos Analytics (Cloud Hosted) to an Azure Synapse Serverless SQL Pool, but so far, we haven’t been successful. We’ve been working on this setup for months now and could really use some advice from anyone who has managed to get this working.
Here’s what we’ve done so far:
* Required ports are open
* We’re using a NAT IP address for outbound connections
* The Azure environment is behind a firewall
* Using a Service Principal for authentication
* The Service Principal has the db_datareader role on the database
Despite this, the creating the connection still fails, and we haven’t been able to pinpoint why. Has anyone successfully connected Cognos to an Azure Synapse Serverless SQL Pool? If yes, could you please share:
* The driver and connection type you used (ODBC, JDBC, etc.)
* Any specific connection string parameters or authentication methods that worked
* Any insights, examples, or lessons learned would be greatly appreciated!
