Hi All.  We are not able to simultaneoulsy access GUI with superuser, which is working as designed.  But then we want to modify consoleProperties.xml file to enable simultaneous logins. So, where is this file. How to find this file from ssh session, as ssh session only supports some standard commands. No way to do a find / -name <filename> etc.  Also, any cli command which we can use to create another super equivalent user with similar elevated rights.

2nd part is:  Where to get Spectrum Control Software from including DB2 etc. Plus, we currently have Storage Insights Free version running fine for IBM A9000Rs. We now have bought Storage Insights Pro (Licensed), so how and from where I can get the SI Pro version and install it. Can I install it on same host where SI Free version was installed.  Thanks.

Hi Subdir,

1: Best practices for Security are to use superuser to initially configure the system to set up least privileged users and then disable it as the only required local user.  You should not be using the superuser password for any automation, nor should you be using it as the login for multiple users.  you should use it to create the necessary users, and then disable it for security best practices.  superuser has the highest level of privilege and should not be in use by multiple people.  The GUI is enforcing best practice here because you shouldn't be sharing logins, particularly not highest privileged user.
2: Storage Insights and Storage Insights pro are both hosted on the IBM Cloud and will display the correct one based on your tenant/paid for access.
3: I generally do not recommend SI And Control be installed against the same set of machines as you are setting up a lot of scanning traffic to the management interfaces, but if you are looking for a local only solution, Control is a great place to go.  You can find information on how to install/where to get it on the Public Documentation here:

Hi Sudhir,

I'm afraid, I do not fully comprehend your question.

For the first part, simultaneous GUI access to FS7300 or any other IBM FlashSystem running Storage Virtualize, indeed is possible.

Neither there is a consoleProperties.xml file around, nor is there a need to tamper with any file.

Last but not least, the Storage Virtualize cli accessable through ssh, is a restricted BASH shell (RBASH), which allows only required commands so one cannot inadvertently do any damage.

For the 2nd part:

The difference between SI Free and SI Pro is in the SI interface you access through a web browser, nothing different to install locally.

Hi Christian.  Thanks.  Good to know that nothing to install locally(like we did a collector install for A9000R). Just enable CAllHome and web browser access.

Does Storage Virtualize and Spectrum Control are same thing.  If, yes, then we are yet to setup SC. We currently access FS7300 with IP access web GUI. And that only allows one superuser access. Doesn't let a 2nd superuser login.  CLI is accessible via ssh- yes.  And, 2nd part also had one more ask:  From where we can download the Spectrum Control and DB2 package which needs to be installed on the Linux VM where we host SC. And, what are the corporate firewall ports requirements for Spectrum Control host. Thanks

Thank You Evelyn. Excellent. This is what we’re looking for.
One final part: How do we know out of these three what we have:

IBM Spectrum Control Basic Edition

IBM Spectrum Control Advanced Select Edition

IBM Spectrum Control Standard Edition

Or, IBM Storage Insights with Spectrum Control etc. It gets a bit confusing as four of them are there.

Best
