Hi,

I am having issues with a Prior YTD comparison.

Components:

  • Raw Data Table
  • Master Data Table (model object)
  • myColumn - containing labels
  • 2019 and 2020 data
  • Report Surface

Problem:

I am trying to create a table on my report that shows myColumn with Current YTD and Prior YTD columns. The values in myColumn change from 2019 to 2020 so when I am in Oct 2020 (for example), I have the list of myColumn labels from 2020 - because of this, I have a delta in my Prior YTD (2019) column....or I assume this is why I have a delta....

How can I display all myColumn values in this report table to get accurate Prior YTD total while accounting for changing labels in myColumn?

Hi Devon - We discussed this on our call. !ALL_ROWS does not work for crossing years, so to get the appropriate Prior YTD values you need to ensure that the data set backing the object in the current year has all possible values from the prior year for myColumn as well.

is the myColumn information coming in from the model object? Or is it a column you have created?

Hi @Devon Bilsing,
I just stumbled across this question while searching for something else.  Here is an article that is based on an older user interface (R11), but the functionality should still exist to accomplish the result that you are looking for:

https://community.apptio.com/viewdocument/how-to-include-all-rows-from-a-pri?CommunityKey=425255f0-2344-4925-89f0-f0eced22345e&tab=librarydocuments

The TLDR of it is this:
  1. Publish the metric to a perspective
  2. Enable "Show all rows in a time based query" on the dimension
  3. Use the dimension in place of the metric
I hope this helps.
