 PAW - PAS compatibility

Hi!

I have been looking for a while and I cannot find any compatibility matrix of PAW-PAS. I know ideally they should go hand by hand but a client is assessing starting creating new applications in PA 3.1 while keeping existing applications in 2.1.

Therefore, I was wondering if it is possible to migrate PAW to 3.1 but leave most PAS in 2.1 (TM1 v11)?

I know PA 3.1 is only available locally in CP4D, so I don't know if that adds another level of complexity.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Fer,

based on the information published so far about the Planning Analytics 3.1 on-premises technical preview, PAW 3.1 appears to be designed to work exclusively with standalone TM1 12 (PAS 3.1).

Stuart King noted that the PAW release included in the 3.1 technical preview is configured for TM1 12, while older PAW 2.0.x / 2.1.x releases cannot be configured to work with TM1 12.

The reverse scenario — PAW 3.1 connecting to PAS 2.1 / TM1 v11 — is not documented as a supported configuration either. Given the close coupling between PAW 3.1 and TM1 12 in the current technical preview, I would not assume that a mixed environment like this is officially supported.

For a gradual migration, I would recommend confirming the supported configuration directly with IBM before planning to keep existing TM1 v11 applications on PAS 2.1 while developing new applications on PAW 3.1.

Best regards,
