our customers who move from perspectives to PAFE complain about missing snapshot functionality when using the viewer .

1) there is are quick report , dbrw reports , universal reports export options but no SNAPSHOT !

2) the exports are only available on the current workbook and customers need  a choice of exporting to a new workbook !

Yes this was all raised 8 + years ago, just like the missing print report functionality etc.

1) However when one of the options has been selected the user can then snapshot, so it's one extra step. Note that the snapshot option for say dynamic reports is better in that it leaves alone standard Excel functions, it only converts the TM1 functions. Users are generally happy when they see this extra functionality. If they are not then the other option is to create an exploration which has similar pivoting functionality to a View and the MDX can also be edited there. Explorations can then either be snapshotted or can be converted to Universal Reports, Dynamic Reports.  or Custom Reports.

2) If a view already exists, users can instead right click on the view in the Task pane and create the required report type in a new workbook.

PAfE is a different thing and not all functionality in Perspectives was incorporated into it. Beware of invalid named ranges and enjoy the challenges when the users encounter circular references!

I noticed that there are two open enhancement request which seem to address your request:

I raised this RFE back in February (https://ibm-data-and-ai.ideas.ibm.com/ideas/PAOC-I-1671) and I believe as Perspectives reaches end of life, it is going to become more and more prevalent.

The viewer does give you the option to export to a live report; however, the biggest issue I am facing is that bigger view exports never come back when using any of the report types and Excel just hangs. I have multiple implementations that use this technique to support various requirements throughout their close and forecast cycles. It seems like basically functionality that continues to be missed.
