Missing 'Cronbach's Alpha if Item Deleted' Column

Hi, I am new on using SPSS and currently doing my final project.

I created a set of questionnaires, 41 Likert Scale (1-5) questions in total & divided into several sections, and got 30 respondent samples. I had tested its reliability and it showed that some of sections is not reliable (less than 0.7). I am also missing 'Cronbach's Alpha if Item Deleted' Column on the result.

Is there anything I can do to solve this? What are the root causes of the problem?

Hi @Kamila Okta Saarah

It seems like those statistics cannot be computed.  Are you geting any warnings early on in your Reliability output?
Something like this?

warning

Hi @David Dwyer, thank you for responding my question!

Yes I got that warning at the beginning of my output file. But seems in other sections, I got the reliability results completely (screenshot attached).

For context, my 40-likert scale questions are divided into 8 sections, so I expected to have 8 reliability results. Some of the reliability results are missing (as I asked in this thread earlier). Did you know the root cause of the warning and missing values? Is it because some of the sections only consist of 2 questions?

Hi @David Dwyer, update on this one. I read a thread here regarding "The determinant of the covariance matrix is zero..." issue, and I've run a multicollinearity test to remove the variables with high VIF value (more than 10). The warning has disappeared, but the "Cronbach's Alpha if item deleted" column is still missing :/

I attached the PDF file of the results for your reference.

Thank you!

Hi @Kamila Okta Saarah,

If you already suspect multi-collinearity issues within your data, then this seems like an ideal set of discussions to have with the methodologist on your thesis committee.
