 Migrate WebSphere Application Server instance

Hello everyone,

Let me introduce myself—I’m Alexis, and I work as a developer on AS400. Recently, I’ve been developing web services that I deploy on WebSphere Application Server. I’d like to know if it’s possible to automatically migrate a WebSphere Application Server instance to another WebSphere Application Server instance on the same server. Thank you in advance for your help.

Environment details:

  • OS Version: 7.4
  • Apache Server Version: Apache/2.4.53 (IBM i)
  • Application Server Version: V2.6 (web services)

Hi Alexis,

I recently upgraded a WAS using the  "waspreupgrade" (create backup of the current situation) and "waspostupgrade" (restore in the new environment) -commands.

Check IBM WebSphere Application Server v9.0 Product Migration Steps for example.

Hope this helps for your usecase, taking a backup first is always a good idea ;)
