 Is it still recommended not to copy Sysplex related CDSs other than Logger with DS8000 Global Mirror ?

Hello,

I'd like to ask whether it is still recommended not to copy Sysplex related CDSs other than Logger CDS with DS8000 Global Mirror or not.

z/OS manual "MVS Setting Up a Sysplex V2.5" says as follows in "Planning disaster recovery actions" section;

IBM also recommends against the use of asynchronous remote copying technologies such as Global
Mirror for managing couple data sets. Asynchronous copy transfers storage unit track images that do
not necessarily correspond to the logical records defined within the couple data set. After failover to the
remote site with which the copy was established, it may be impossible to IPL the sysplex using the copied
couple data sets.
Instead, IBM recommends that you predefine and initialize new instances of couple data sets to be used
for sysplex initialization at the disaster recovery site.

There was a similar problem for DB2, but it was resolved many years ago.   How about Sysplex related CDSs ?

I found the original APAR of this description in  manual "MVS Setting Up a Sysplex V2.5". That is PM89433. Please see "Local Fix" section of this APAR.

In "Problem conclusion" section, it says as follows;

This APAR was originally closed as FIN, but is now being closed as a permanent restriction since implementation isn't currently practical. A procedural circumvention is documented in the GDPS MGM manual.

So this restriction still exists and would continue to exist.
