Hi, is it possible to hide the warning you get in SPSS output (Viewer) window every year just a month before it's time to renew the license. It's a concurrent license. /Gunilla #SPSSLicensing #spsslicense #SPSSStatistics

Hi @Gunilla Rudander
There is not.

The warning was put there specifically to allow the administrator 30 days to update their license server prior to the whole product ceasing to function.

To avoid the warning:

  • Say, for example the license expires July 1, 2025.
  • On June 1, 2025 users will begin to see this warning, but the product will continue to work.
  • The trick then is to renew the license (for the same time period, just in the future -- July 1, 2025-July 1, 2026, for example) and update the license server prior to June 1, 2025.
  • If upgrading versions on individual PCs (For example Statistics 30.0 to 31.0) there is no need to have that migration finished before June 1, 2025.  SPSS Statistics has N+1 concurrent licensing.  So all that is important is to upgrade the license server before the "nag message" begins on June 1, 2025.

OK, the trick sounds very interesting. So if I understand you right it should be possible to renew the license just before 1 of June  and in some way specify the period July 1 2025 - July 1 2026?  Do you have to write any code for doing that, or is it an easy "click-and-choose-function"? (Concurrent license)

Hi @Gunilla Rudander
Really all I am saying is to renew your license with IBM - for whatever time period - well in advance of your current license term running out.  If you know your license term is up in July, you also know the warning will startup in June.  So I'm saying for you to contact IBM in May and arrange for your new license then.  Then when June come along, you already have a new license to apply.
