We're currently renewing our datacenter hosts with some DL360 G12. Currenly, but out of maintenance, connected via a Brocade SAN switch. My company together with our IBM partner are looking into ditching the SAN switch and directly attaching the IBM storage (4 port 16GB/s) to our Hyper V hosts. These hyper V hosts are to be made into a cluster of 2 hosts per cluster in each datacenter. This will be a mirrored setup of 2 datacenters with no redundancy/replication/failover between datacenter, each DC operates on it's own.
I'm a bit unsure if removing the SAN switch is an optimal choice, we have redundancy to hook up each hosts to the 2 IBM notes 2 times. So one hosts can go to 2 ports on each node. But i fear we're paying some price in ditching the SAN switch.
Does anyone have any live experience with direct attached Hyper V hosts to this storage system?
