Hello everyone, I have a flashsystem 5200 with firmware 8.5.0.11.

I am trying to update the FCM firmware from 3.1.11 to 3.1.15, and with different packages (250610, 250514, 250501) the system goes through the testing phase and when it tries to perform the update, it returns with the error CMMVC5994E.

I have already tried cleancleardumps -prefix /home/admin/upgrade, but the result is always the same (CMMVC5994E.).

I have lost count of the times I downloaded the packages again from IBM Fix Central.

Any suggestions?

Thanks advance

Adalberto Barbosa

Would you try it after upgrading the firmware to version 8.5.0.15? (I recommend 8.7.0.6).

Hi Adalberto, Have you tried putting the nodes in service? I have seen this a few times when applying code if packages keep failing.

Put the partner in service first then back out again and let it re-join the cluster, let all the paths settle then do the same again on the configuration node.

Then retry the code again.

Thanks Stuart

Actually, that's exactly why I suggested a code upgrade, Stuart!
The code upgrade includes the process you mentioned and also updates the code to a more stable version.

Thanks for your help @stuart wade and @Nezih Boyacioglu

@stuart wade - The client has not yet given authorization to carry out this procedure.

@Nezih Boyacioglu - The FS5200 do not allow firmware upgrades without upgrading the disks. I tested to upgrade to 8.5.0.12 and it immediately returned an error.

Hi,
There are two major lines in your test utility output.

1- You do not need to upgrade the drive firmware before starting the software upgrade.
2- None of these issues will prevent the software upgrade from being started.

If it's a client system and there are concerns about the upgrade, raise a ticket to IBM. They will address the issue.
