 DNF again - update fails: "cannot install the best update candidate for package python3-3.12.11-0.ppc"

Hi everyone,

I just did some new test installations with

AIX 7200-05-13-2633

AIX 7300-03-03-2633

AIX 7300-04-02-2633

On top, DNF was installed from scratch on top of the "default" rpm.rte that came with the mentioned AIX levels. When I now do a "dnf update" from the most recent repositories (as of 3.9.2026), this fails:

# dnf update
Last metadata expiration check: 5:27:30 ago on Thu Sep  3 07:59:03 CEST 2026.
Error:
 Problem: cannot install the best update candidate for package python3-3.12.11-0.ppc
  - nothing provides python3.12 = 3.12.13-2 needed by python3-3.12.13-2.ppc from ppc
(try to add '--skip-broken' to skip uninstallable packages or '--nobest' to use not only best candidate packages)

This is just an internal test environment - but we have lots of customers that need exactly those installations and updates as well.

Does anyone experience this behaviour too? Is there any solution to that besides AGAIN reinstalling everything from scratch? 

P.S:

Why is it so hard to have a working DNF infrastructure and consistent packages? We do updates approx. twice a year and we want to keep RPM packages updated as well; but almost everytime we run into new issues, "dnf update" almost certainly fails. There is a ever-growing number of people here in the IBM community that report issues with RPM / DNF, and it feels like things are getting worse every month. 

We have a lot of AIX customers that rely on RPM packages and DNF, but keeping this up to date seems just impossible to me without constantly removing and redeploying all installed RPM packages...

Whenever we roll out new updates in Toolbox, we do our internal testing and make sure "dnf update" works seamlessly without any issues. 
If the user have local repo ,then the recommendation is to sync it with Toolbox repo before doing dnf update. 
Here is it a local repo or it directly points to AIX Toolbox repo ?
