As you mention, Datalink only lets you view files on Datadrop, not to delete or otherwise manage the files. For this you need an FTP/SFTP client like FileZilla. FileZilla, or any other FTP/SFTP client software that your IT policy allows (if any), will enable you to log in to Datadrop and manage (create, delete, rename etc) your files and folders.
It is good practise to let connectors archive files after a successful run, but you may still end up with unwanted files in the incoming folder for errored connectors or incorrect files.
If you are unable to use FileZilla, you may want to create one or more ‘archive’ connectors that ‘pretends’ to load the files to Apptio, and in the process moves files from your incoming folder to an archive folder.
Make the file pattern a fairly generic one and select the ‘Process All Matching Files’ option but be aware that it cannot match more than 10 files at once. If the pattern matches more than 10 files the connector will fail and you’ll need to use more specific file patterns over multiple runs or create multiple connectors.
All archive connectors can load to a single dummy table in Cost Transparency but you don’t want to check the tables in when the connector runs. In Datalink, use the Auto Checkin Disabled option. For Datalink Classic you can add the archive connector(s) to a group of its own that doesn't check-in. Just make sure to run the group and not the individual connector. You may also want to lock Stage while you run the archive connectors to prevent any accidental check-ins.
Afterwards you can revert the Datalink workspace in TBM Studio to throw away the file loaded by the archive connectors.
