Good Afternoon All,
I am having some trouble with connecting a Power10 machine currently in use to my HMC. Most documentation goes through the steps of connecting a brand new system to an HMC, but not so much of a in use system. Anyways I was able to connect using the ASMI IP and login but am being met with a state detail on the HMC that says this 'Virtual management interface is disabled. Please reboot the Managed System to enable the PowerVM Virtualization support". So I brought the machine down into a standby state and was still able to access the ASMI. This message did not go away. So I thought I would have to just configure the VMI IP as that would be the next step. Well I cant change or configure the VMI IP either. So I am at a loss at the moment and decided to see if any of you guys may have an idea of what I am missing, as I cant seem to find any documentation regarding this.
Thanks
Hi David,
VMI IP need to be set to DHCP before the first Power ON.
You put the server in standby mode, so it is still Power ON. You have to Power OFF the server, and then I think you will be able to change VMI IP in ASMI.
Regards.
