 Cloud volume metric to show cloud consumption trend?

Hi Cldy Community,

Posting a question to see if anyone here has had a similar request.

We have been asked by Snr Management for a "monthly cloud volume metric that can provide insight into our consumption trend".  In the days of traditional compute, this could quite easily be a count of CPU cores running / consumed and divided by the applications running on a platform (such as VMWare).  Since cloud is far more complex than that, coming up with a single metric isn't so straight-forward.

We were wondering if anyone else in the community has ever been asked to provide some kind of single, generic consumption metric for Public Cloud consumption? If so, we would love to hear your thoughts.

Thank you for being part of Apptio community. I do agree with you that getting a single metric reflecting a Public cloud consumption is not so obvious but not impossible.  you can actually  create your own Metric . Here you can find some guidance : Create custom Metric !
