Calculation Time Reduction

Question

Hello All,

We have to do case study in our project to reduce the calculation time and improve the performance of the system. Currently, we have 6 years open in our project and it is the need to keep all the years.

However, we can keep all the data in a month in all the years. So basically, Is it possible to close 11 months in each Financial year and keep just 1 month open in each FY ?
For example : FY 2019 Jan - FY 2019 Nov (Closed) and FY 2019 Dec (Open)
FY 2020 Jan - FY 2020 Nov (Closed) and FY 2020 Dec (Open) and so on.

We have "Editable Periods" function in the time settings. Can we use this for the above purpose ? If yes, Whether it can reduce calculations and improve performance ?

Closing periods only means data can no longer be changed, @Prahar Tiwari. I believe it has no influence on calculation times, but I'll defer the confirmation to the Apptio experts in performance, as per @Claudia Secco above.
What might help is reducing the report calculation window: this might shorten calculation times somewhat, at the cost of having to wait if you want data from periods outside that window. My understanding is that Apptio will still calculate tables, metrics and models, but not reports.

We extract every year the most significant data from the last FY and then move the window to keep up to 2 years' worth of data. We load that data to a set of tables, and we have a Historical Data report that supports the most habitual queries. True, we don't have everything, but it works for us.
