 Anyone using z/OS Message Flood Automation?

Hi,

We are a zOS 3.1 environment in a Sysplex but not GDPS.

Looking at implementing z/OS Message Flood Automation and have found a 2007 presentation ("IBM Education Assistant “Getting started with Message Flood Automation -  SPE OA17514 for z/OS R6/R7/R8") by IBMer (W. Kevin Kelley) and OA17514 then refers to a Users Guide at http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/zoslib/pdf/mfaguide.pdf.

These are quite "old" docs and some of the info it refers to no longer exists (eg: Sample exits CNZZVXT1/􀀀 CNZZVXT2 dont exist in SYS1.SAMPLIB and SMPE knows nothing of them either) 

Is anyone aware of any up-to-date doc?

The outdated doc I have read so far and looking at the zOS 3.1 Init and Tuning Ref for the MSGFLDxx member doesn't enlighten me anymore as to how I would even get started to try and deploy z/OS Message Flood Automation

It appears that z/OS Message Flood Automation was initially for GDPS, so I am assuming there must be some GDPS Customers making use of z/OS Message Flood Automation 

Any assistance/guidance/information would be appreciated

        Thanks for the pointer to the zOS 3.1 manual. The "z/OS Message Flood Automation User's Guide" that is referred to in SPE OA17514  has a section titled "Installation" which I don't see in the zOS 3.1 manual you have directed me to - do I take it to mean that the "installation" section of the "z/OS Message Flood Automation User's Guide" is no longer applicable?

The z/OS Message Flood Automation User's Guide at http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/zoslib/pdf/mfaguide.pdf is the SPE documentation from December 2007. That info would have been merged into the product pubs at the next release. As far as I can find, the only doc on MFA now is in the MVS Planning: Operations publication at https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/zos/3.1.0?topic=mvs-zos-planning-operations. If you have SoftwarExcel or SupportLine for Z then open a case and ask your question there.

Hi Roger,

You are right, z/OS MFA is still using for GDPS related automation operations like reducing the risk of WTO Buffer shortages as well.
