I'm excited to be discussing application modernization on IBM Power in this on-demand recording of our AMA from November 9, 2022.  I'll be joined by Chuck Bryan and Manoj Kumar from IBM Power Hybrid Cloud Product Management & Development to answer your questions about all things app modernization on Power: From building cloud-native apps with Red Hat OpenShift to managing OpenShift clusters and workloads with Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes and Watson AIOps to providing examples of how customers across Banking, Retail, Government, and other industries are going from initial POCs to production environments running OpenShift container apps on Power and connecting to their existing AIX and IBM i based apps and databases.

Watch now and join us for a lively session where you can ask us anything about app modernization on IBM Power!

Drop your questions as a reply to this thread and we'll make sure to answer them during the session. Hope to see you there.

Hey Joe, I was on an ISV call earlier today and some were asking what our stance was on Kubernetes; some ISVs provide products on AWS, Azure, etc. and OpenShift isn't always a viable answer there.  Is IBM investing in Kubernetes, what is our support policy, and do we provide a way for ISVs to pick up or access Kubernetes for their solutions on Power?

Hey Gerrit... great question!  Kubernetes is a critical part of our IBM Power modernization strategy, especially given that it's the core underlying technology used for RedHat OpenShift. Our engineers are always hard at work ensuring that Kubernetes is fully enabled to work atop IBM Power. For clients that want a fully supported commercial offering, that's where Red Hat OpenShift comes into the picture. Folks can also leverage the community code as well if they just want to experiment and don't require full enterprise-level support.

+1 what @Joe Cropper mentioned, we have good presence in the Kubernetes community for the power presence and we are ensuring things that all the Kubernetes upstream code works fine on Power platform as well. Kubernetes is a vast community and got many different ways of supporting users(e.g slack, stack overflow, blogs etc..) and anyone can use these mediums. And we can leverage this community as well for all additional help/support required.

+1 to Manju/Joe... To give an example of the community support - IBM works in the Special Interest Groups to make it easier to work with Power.  Consider the Node-Feature-Discovery where Red Hat / IBM have added features related to labeling nodes with Power specific features such as Matrix Math Accelerator.
