Hi Patrick,

Thanks for the review.

  •  What does "number NPIV Ports supported" mean regarding

  adapter type EN1J (2-Port 32Gb/s)?

Answer: "Number of NPIV Ports supported": This column provides

max NPIV initiators supported by single physical port.

IBM allows customer to override recommended value of 64 but,

If they choose to do that then it will not be supported by IBM.

  • Does EN1J officially behavior like EN1A/B?

Answer: As mentioned above IBM officially support 64 NPIV initiators for

EN1J and 255 for EN1A/B.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

Hi Ninad,

thanks for sharing this information.
What does "number NPIV Ports supported" mean regarding adapter type EN1J (2-Port 32Gb/s)?
As EN1A/B "supports" 255 max_npivs; EN1J does 254 from ODM perspective.
IBM statement about supported way to increase max_npivs:
VIOS 3.1.1 - Increase # of NPIV’s per FC port to 255? (ibm.com)
Q: Does EN1J officially behavior like EN1A/B?
