Hi, we see the same problem with the /opt/freeware/ binaries or libraries, even with the latest RPMs installed. I think it would be a good idea if IBM would drop the libiconv package entirely from toolbox and adjust the other toolbox packages so that they will be able to use the system iconv library. ...

no option to ask is not completely right. Maybe this is true if you look for unpaid quick help in public forums. There are however companies (like us...), who offer professional support for Samba on AIX and any other platform. ------------------------------ -- Samba Support: https://samba.plus ...

Hi my christal ball tells me that the group membership that you mention is just a POSIX group membership but not a samba group membership. In other words, a samba groupmapping is missing, "net groupmap add ...". If this would be a domain setup and depending on how your idmapping wold look like and ...

but you know that \ is the default winbind separator and that you could also simply remove that parameter to use the (default) backslash separator also. But as mentioned, if you need for some reason the explicit setting of the default value to get fixed, feel free to contact us. ------------------------------ ...

did you restart winbind? I just tested this with our current sambaplus 4.17.5 and this works with two backslashes here. Testparm complains however, yes. You might want to file this to bugzilla samba.org or contact a company offering commercial Samba support (like us) to fix this if you need this addressed ...

Hi, you should use two backslashes. Backslash is used for escaping otherwise. ------------------------------ -- Samba Support: https://samba.plus SAMBA+ for AIX: https://samba.plus/samba-aix phone: +49-551-370000-0 mailto:samba@sernet.de ------------------------------

Hi, sssd is a Linux only focussed project, there is no AIX support and will probably never be. The straight forward solution for AIX is Samba and Winbind though. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JevcJ1_vbf0 for a 30 minute workshop how to do that. For the Samba / Winbind solution you will also ...

Hi Harley-Team, you should be aware that posting the full smb.conf and level 10 logs here can easily leak information that you might not want to publish to the world. As you are suffering from the problems since a while and the problem doesn't seem to be solvable here with community help, you should ...

That Samba version that you run here is 12 years old and it has numerous unfixed bugs and security issues. You should move to an up-tp-date version. See https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_Release_Planning to get an idea, which versions have been supported. Apart of that the lines that you see ...

Oh, and in case this helps, we had a tutorial on integrating Samba on AIX with AD, it's on YT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwQpcnb-jTs&t=339s. Most things should apply to the community packages as well. Cheers! ------------------------------ -- SerNet GmbH, Bahnhofsallee 1b, 37081 Göttingen ...

Hi Harley, it seems you've set vfs objects twice, once in the global section and then for the share, where the latter will *overwrite* what you've set globally. Maybe setting the VFS modules correctly fixes your problem. Cheers! ------------------------------ -- SerNet GmbH, Bahnhofsallee ...

Instead of sssd, which is a completely Linux-focussed software, you can easily use Samba's Winbind. We just yesterday had a talk about integrating AIX with Winbind at the SambaXP conference. With SAMBA+, you can also get commercial grade support, if you want that. ------------------------------ -- ...

the suggested "username map" workaround for the regression is discussed in https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14901 . The 4.14 and 4.15 SAMBA+ AIX packages don't need that workaround however, it was fixed shortly after the regression was found. Have in mind that, depending on how the idmapping ...
