basically Iv found that for ibm power8 there are high profile cdimms and low profile ones

this is the difference… looks like specs work out but idk
the model i got is a IBM s822 (2U) wondering if i can just unscrew those plastic things so i can plug them into a 2U server

Are you able to remove a CDIMM from your S822 and compare? Is there a Short CDIMM bracket attached to the S822 DIMM?

Of course this will not be officially supported by IBM, even if it would physcally fit. (Assuming 16, 32 or 64GB CDIMM).

Best course of action would be to organize some kind trade in with an IBM reseller or even request a qoutation from IBM GARS for the same.

I have removed it and compared them

Tested out if your remove those plastic guides from the dimm and plugged them in

Looks like there is some kind of mechanism that makes the server deconfigures the

Cdimm. So was thinking of just removing the high profile ram's plastic part by cutting it off

I can find some low profile ones but like they are too expensive

    Hello
Ddimms made for U4 Power10 systems are not compatible  with 2U systems (also true the other way ).
Usually, system will unconfigure resource during boot time as it is not the attended CCIN (CCIN looks like 4 digit feature code, but it is the hardware reference that firmware will check to make sure supported parts are installed).
By the way, you void your waranty by modifiying the memory feature and took the risk of burning your CPU memory controler too, since memory must be handled with extreme care due to static electricity sensitivity (ESD prevention with wrist and ESD mat, and 5 sec ESD discharge in the memory ESD backet before memory replug).
    Best regards.

oh didnt knew the hardware would check the CCIN thanks for the information
and about ESD prevention, ofc i used a esd prevention thingy also using some leftover esd safe plastic thingy

ofc used gloves for it so no worries
    thanks for the information
