  • 1.  VIOS 3.x ISO images

    Hello,

    I know that we can download the latest available VIOS 3.x ISO images (Flash or Standard images) on IBM ESS web site but I am searching for previous version images like 3.1.2.x. Where can I find these previous images ? Thanks in advance.

    Hello Sylvain,

    you will find the base images available and eligible for your system and contract in the IBM ESS portal, like VIOS 3.1.0, 3.1.1, 3.1.3 and 3.1.4 etc.

    All other levels you can download from IBM Fix Central as an update package to one of these base levels, and can bundle them into an ISO instead of a bunch of separate bff packages as one of the download options.

    This might not include any version known but you will find the latest fixpack version for any of the minor versions.

    VIOS FP 3.1.2.21 would be available here.

    Hello Steffen,

    When I search for 5765-VE3 (PowerVM EE v3), I only find v3.1.4.0 standard image and v3.1.4.10 flash image.

    Older images are no more displayed.

    I did a Google search with "ibm vios download" and found this Technote as the very first item of the search result : https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/how-obtain-installation-software-powervm-virtual-io-server  (This Technote was last updated in October last year)  

    Read down to the section "To Download ISO Image" and in the picture in item 2 -> Step 1: Select Product, it shows that the option Entitled is selected, you may want to try "All" as well.

    Then in item number 3, and you will see this Note section :

    Note 1:  The latest VIOS and Expansion Pack images for version 3.1 are available under product number
    • 5765-VE3 PowerVM Enterprise ED V3 -> Package "2344: IBM PowerVM V3 / VIOS v03.01.01,ENU,DVD"  and
    • 5765-VS3 IBM PowerVM Standard Edition
    • There are 2 versions available
      • 3.1.1.20 (DVD - available May 2020) and
      • 3.1.1.25 (Flash - available July 2020)

    Note 2:  VIOS 2.2.6.60 (May 2020 DVD ISOs) and 2.2.6.65 (July 2020 USB Flash ISO) are available under products
    • 5765-PVE PowerVM Enterprise Edition -> Package "2201: PowerVM Enterprise Edition v01.05.00,ENU,DVD"
    • 5765-PVS PowerVM Standard Edition -> Package 2201
    • 5765-VE3 PowerVM Enterprise Edition

    Note 3: Availability of installation images for older VIOS releases
    • 2.2.5.0, 2.2.5.20, and 2.2.6.0 (DVD) are available under product number 5799-PTV PowerVM V2 Technology Level.
    • Older 3.1 images can be found under product number 5799-P31 PowerVM V3 Technology Level.
