Is anyone running firmware version VH950_161 on their E980s?  If so, are you seeing any odd performance issues?

    Dear Matthew

It would be better if you could provide a brief description of the performance issue you encounter and the reason why you think it's the firmware that causes the issue.

In my long experience with Power Systems, the only case (happened in 2 separate customers in early days of POWER8 times) I could remember of performance issue caused by the firmware was that it caused all the CPUs to run at 50% their nominal frequency and the solution is to do what is called Soft Reset of Service Processor ( https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/power9?topic=menus-rebooting-service-processor ) and upgrade the firmware.   There is a command WRKSYSACT in IBM i that displays the CPU Rate to identify this issue.   AIX command = pmcycles -d and -M.

Have you used any OS command or performance report tool to identify the nature of the issue?  What OS do you run?

    Hello,

What was the firmware version before upgrading to the latest version ? I can see that the firmware VH950_161 / FW950.C0 is mostly fixing the problems that existed previously so should not cause any performance issues. Please can you elaborate more what is not performing well after this upgrade?
