Recently I came across an issue. Could someone help me understand why that caused the

P770 running AIX with Pcmpath connected to IBM SAN Volume Controller. One of the path failed due to Node failure in SVC. during that period, the server was rebooted and the LUNs was visible after the reboot. But the VGs could not be varyed on.

Then the Volumes were pushed to the surviving node and the varyonvg worked.

What could be the reason for not having automatic switching when one of the path was unavailable after the reboot.

The linked page mentions 2.6.3.3 and a temporary fix but the formal fix is now available for normal download from fix central in SDDpcm 2.6.4.0 and don't forget to update the associated HAS. Or save your self the bother of the whole SDDpcm and HAS thing and switch to native AIX MPIO now it fully supports SVC.
