We are currently running on 7042-CR8 running HMC software V9.1, the HMC's connect to Power 8 machines and they are being decommissioned next March. We have no intentions of upgrading our HMC model or P hardware, as you know support ended for V9.1 in September. Does IBM have any intentions of sending some type of patch for this HMC version to mitigate the Log4j? Or is there something that can be done now to mitigate the risk without patching?
We have this exact situation too. We have a 7042-CR8 running 9.1 SP 942. The plan is to replace it early 2022 when we buy a new Power9.
Yes and I would think that there would be a few more folks out there with the same issue. Need to get IBM to release a interim patch for this version or some type of workaround, the only workaround I know is to turn it off!
