  • 1.  Does it need to RedHat HA add-on license even if it plans to configure only 1 node in PowerVC 2.0.2?

For using RHEL High Availability yum repository, it need to purchase RHEL HA add-on license.

Is it necessary to configure the HA repository even though I plan to use only a PowerVC 2.0.2 management node?

I would like to avoid additional costs if possible.

Unfortunately you need the HA repo, also in a one node cluster. Therefore if you want a supported configuration, you need to buy the HA subscription.

    Hi,

Havent done deep dive to PowerVC 2.0.2 documentation yet...but where does this RHEL HA license requirement come from? Is it stated somewhere, or will the PowerVC 2.0.2 installation fail automagically if U R missing the HA license / RHEL repo?

    Hi Tommi,

PowerVC 2.0.2 has now a Multi-node architecture, which can provide HA. It is still also possible to just install PowerVC on one node, but also in that case it installs a Pacemaker/ Corosync cluster. In that case a cluster with just one node. With that you always need the cluster packages out of the HA repository.

You can find that requirement in the documentation:
