SMB 2.1 supported on AIX

By Wera Stoeckel posted Fri December 11, 2020 12:15 PM

SAP customers running AIX have been asking for support of the SMB 2.1 protocol on AIX, because the previously supported version 1.0 is no longer considered secure.

AIX 7.2 Technology Level 4 supports SMB 2.1. For technical details refer to the AIX 7.2 Knowledge Center at: https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/ssw_aix_72/network/smbcfs.html
The SMB 1.0 based CIFS/SMBFS mount feature is no longer supported: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/aix-cifssmbfs-mount-feature-no-longer-supported-aix-72

For AIX 7.1 the SMB 2.1 support is available as well, see: https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/ssw_aix_72/network/smbcfs.html
