VIOS 4.1.1.0 New features
1. Introduction
Virtual IO Server is a PowerVM component which virtualizes storage & network resources and provision virtual resources to client lpars.
New VIOS version 4.1.1.0 has been released and it is built on top of AIX 7.3 TL 3
Detailed list of enhancements are specified as below.
2. New features
- Improved LPM LUN level validation for NPIV backed storage lpars. More details in the blog.
- Virtual optical device backing to NFS mounted path. More details in the blog.
- Multi-queue support in virtual ethernet to drive more traffic through trunk adapter. More details in the blog.
- Long running VIOS commands like updateios, viosupgrade, backupios seamlessly complete in background even if there are network disruptions.
- NPIV I/O commands timeout improvements in buffer starvation conditions for commands.
- Cleanup support for unwanted language filesets.
- Virtual FC performance diagnostics support for IBM i lpars
- By default viosupgrade preserves all the device names on the system to the values that were set before the upgrade operation.
- alt_root_vg command is enhanced to run in multiple phases so that user can perform additional tasks if required between the phases.
- chdev command is enhanced to modify concurrently updatable attributes.
