Announcing Trend Vision One™ by Trend Micro with new support for SAP HANA on Enterprise Linux on IBM Power

By Laurent Montaron posted 5 days ago

It is with great pleasure that I welcome today's formal announce of a leading Extended Detection and Response (XDR) solution on Enterprise Linux on IBM Power: Trend Vision One™.

Now, Trend Micro is not new to the IBM Power platform. But this year we add formal support for Enterprise Linux, including both SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), therefore allowing Trend Vision One to secure SAP HANA deployments, which run exclusively on Linux.

This is a most welcome development for our SAP clients, who typically run a mix of SAP Netweaver environments on IBM AIX, Linux, and other operating systems, and newer SAP HANA database deployments on Linux, used with SAP Netweaver, SAP S/4HANA, or both.

Now, clients can deploy the solution across both AIX and Linux and leverage the deep integration with SAP. Vision One secures both SAP Netweaver and SAP HANA, with SAP's official blessing! Here are some of the features included in Vision One's SAP Scanner:

  • Scan files on demand to protect critical information within SAP environments
  • Certified (by SAP) integrations with both SAP NetWeaver and the SAP HANA platform
  • Analyze uploaded data and identify possible malicious script content that might be embedded or disguised within documents
  • Auto-tag and report malicious content to SAP systems through the NetWeaver Virus Scan Interface (VSI)

For more information about the integration, please refer to the Trend Micro documentation.

I'd like to point out that Trend Micro's Deep Security Agent is available on both AIX and Linux, and the initial release of Vision One on Linux Power already features an impressive feature coverage including:

  • Real-time and On-demand Anti-Malware
  • Web Reputation Service
  • Firewall
  • Intrusion Prevention System including inspection on unencrypted and SSL/TLS-encrypted traffic
  • Integrity Monitoring including real-time file scans, process and port scans, and on-demand scans
  • Log inspection
  • Application Control
  • Scanner
  • Recommendation Scans
  • Relay

Some features were initially available on SLES only, but RHEL support is being added and already includes on-demand anti-malware (signature-based file scanning, spyware scanning, and document exploit protection), Integrity Monitoring filescans, Intrusion Prevention System.

Please check out the official announce on the IBM website, on the Trend Micro website. Also, make sure to check out our new solution brief!
