Introducing Rocketgraph xGT on IBM Power
We’re delighted to share that IBM® and Rocketgraph (formerly Trovares) have joined forces to bring the comprehensive capabilities of the Rocketgraph xGT graph analytics platform onto IBM Power®. The Rocketgraph xGT platform is designed to handle very large and highly complex graph problems, allowing enterprises to build a single property graph from existing data stores and easily scale to datasets with hundreds of billions of edges. IBM Power10 servers are superscalar, multithreaded, multi-core servers with embedded AI acceleration technology, ideal for high-performance workloads. Running Rocketgraph xGT on Power10 offers many computational performance advantages, scaling up to 64 TB of shared memory.
Rocketgraph xGT on IBM Power
The xGT search engine ingests data from Oracle, MongoDB, Databricks, Snowflake, and many other sources such as TigerGraph or Neo4j™, allowing organizations to add enterprise-wide knowledge capabilities through scalable graph analytics without replacing their existing data analytics workflows. Unlike traditional graph tools that struggle with large datasets and complex queries, xGT handles graph traversal at speed and depth. GenAI assistance extends graph analytics capabilities to analysts who are not graph experts using cloud or private large language models (LLMs). Organizations that run private LLMs on premises can easily integrate those LLMs and benefit from an LLM model tailored for their domain, such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) or fine-tuning.
Clients can accelerate their AI initiatives and increase operational efficiencies by leveraging the xGT graph analytics platform on IBM Power. Quantifying the capabilities of IBM Power, the Rocketgraph engineering team conducted several performance tests comparing xGT on x86 and a Power E1050 server. The results revealed that Rocketgraph xGT running on Power E1050 (8 cores) delivered the fastest results compared to Rocketgraph xGT running on x86 (8 cores). IBM Power was 1.6x faster when traversing a 500 million edge graph, 2x faster when traversing a 1 billion edge graph, and 2.5x faster when traversing a 4 billion edge graph.
