Nominate for the IBM TechXchange Awards by 12 September!
There are hundreds of packages available on the AIX Toolbox for Linux Applications download site. Additionally, there are a few 3rd-party open source packages that are bundled as file sets on AIX install media. The open source software delivered through the toolbox, or AIX file sets, is not owned , developed, or documented, by IBM. The code is obtained from open source communities.
For expertise usage support of each toolbox package, or file set, users should consult the community for each respective project. The Open Source project communities (for example, http://www.gnu.org/software/bash) are still considered to be the best source for full usage expertise, since that is where the product developers engage. Here is list of help resources for many of the Open Source projects. Documentation can generally be found on the project site. Some projects have separate listings for community resources (for example, mailing lists, or forums).
