This session first explain why we have a patch cycle every month. I will describe the importance of security patches and regulations for a Dutch bank. After this introduction I will describe the difference between non disruptive and kernel patches. Most of the time during this session I will show how to manage kernel patches with Live Update. I will explain how to use it using a standalone LPAR, or using NIM/Pvc. It will explain how LU can be used as a real time saver for applying TL, SP updates and security patches. In the presentation will explain how this technology works, step by step and what are the dependencies are. During the session I will show practical examples how to test, and I will explain the pitfalls, and difference between a TL/SP Live update versus a security update.
