Driving Innovation at T-Mobile via Infrastructure as Code and IBM Power

By Brandon Pederson posted Wed March 13, 2024 05:38 PM

Infrastructure as code (IaC) is the managing and provisioning of infrastructure through code rather than traditional manual processes. Infrastructure as code can help system administrators and developers alike by automating infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and ensuring infrastructure is ready to go for continuous integration/continuous delivery practices. Server automation tools such as the Red Hat® Ansible® Automation Platform are often used to implement infrastructure as code and can also help build more efficient workflows to streamline the adoption of IaC. With Red Hat Ansible, teams can provision multiple operating systems, deploy applications, and manage configurations across different on-prem or cloud environments.

T-Mobile®, one of the largest telecommunications providers in the world, is delivering an advanced 4G LTE and transformative nationwide 5G network while generating over $80B in annual revenue. Their IT organization wanted to drive innovation via hybrid cloud and automation to meet these increased business demands from 5G. They also wanted to build on the superior capabilities of IBM® Power® by making it easier to consume and manage. Using Ansible-Core with PowerVC, they were able to adopt infrastructure as code to automate provisioning, configuration management, post-deploy steps, and Day Two activities such as operating system patches and upgrades.

Join us on Tuesday, April 16th at 1:00PM EST to hear from Santhosh Padiyath, MTS, Systems Architecture Engineering at T-Mobile; and Chuck Bryan, Red Hat and Cloud Pak Software Product Management Leader, IBM Power; on how they are using infrastructure as code with IBM Power, Red Hat® Enterprise Linux®, and Ansible-Core to reduce management complexity with infrastructure as code and improve speed of execution to respond faster to business demands.
