The /* comment */ technique works *almost* everywhere. I think KPIs are one of the few places they don't work -- where comments just are *not* allowed. ------------------------------ Blessings, Jason Uppenborn Sr. Technical Maximo Consultant Ontracks Consulting ------------------------------

Thank you . I had lost sight of the original requirement. Your comment makes perfect sense, now. ------------------------------ Blessings, Jason Uppenborn Sr. Technical Maximo Consultant Ontracks Consulting ------------------------------

Thank you, Joey and others, for reminding me of the correct syntax for specifying the connection type to wsadmin. In your reminder, you put the password in clear text on the command line. Any user could then do a `ps -ef | grep password` and find it. This is *very* bad. To avoid passing the password ...

How do you "feed [the environment variable] in" to connect to the cell manager *after* starting wsadmin? I can get the environment variables. But how do you connect to the cell manager after starting wsadmin with wsadmin -conn NONE ? ------------------------------ Blessings, Jason Uppenborn Sr. Technical ...

I think of CLASSIFICATIONS as a bag of terms and CLASSSTRUCTURE as arrangements of terms from that bag into hierarchies -- with an arbitrary limitation that you can only use each CLASSIFICATION once in a given hierarchy path. The description of the leaf of the current hierarchy path may / will likely ...

Yes. I have seen that concept used in a few places. It works well. But don't follow the linked article exactly. Calling the attribute "Inactive" means you're always dealing with a negative -- you have to double-negative to get a positive. That's crazy. Call it "Active" and set it by default. Then you ...

I have seen organizations use Microsoft's System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) and Splunk for log and process monitoring and alerting. Those tools seem to work well. As an interim solution, you may also be able to set up a database job that checks the SERVERSESSION table every so often and lets you ...

And if you don't want lots of emails, you write your escalation against DUMMY_TABLE with a subquery against PM. Then you get one email regardless of how many PMs fail. I have done this kind of approach lots. ------------------------------ Blessings, Jason Uppenborn Sr. Technical Maximo Consultant Ontracks ...

I'm not aware of a way to do this. I would just make a copy of the query with the "parameter" hard-coded. Then, the dialog you would enter the parameter into would be the View/Manage Saved Queries dialog. ------------------------------ Blessings, Jason Uppenborn Sr. Technical Maximo Consultant Ontracks ...

A cheap solution might be to have several images and pick the right one with Conditional UI. And you could have a button in the section that opens one of the dialogs Dick referred to, or maybe work in a hover dialog. ------------------------------ Blessings, Jason Uppenborn Sr. Technical Maximo Consultant ...

You can also use the HTML tag -- e.g. 2. Unfortunately, this does not work for table column headings, but it does work for field labels. ------------------------------ Blessings, Jason Uppenborn Sr. Technical Maximo Consultant Ontracks Consulting ------------------ ...

Apparently the download is a 7zip file, not just a regular zip file. So, you can't use Windows' Expand feature. You have to use 7zip to unzip it. ------------------------------ Blessings, Jason Uppenborn Sr. Technical Maximo Consultant Ontracks Consulting ------------------------------

Does IBM have any updates on where, when and how we will be able to access Maximo JavaDocs again? The download is defective: it is 18 MB instead of 90+ MB and corrupted so Windows "Expand..." can't open it but complains it is empty. And the on-line version is just gone. Many customers and business partners ...

It's the same as when you use a 1:M relationship to display a value in a Comm Template: the single value that gets shown in the resulting email is the one that happened to be first back from the database. There may be database reasons why the list of records come back in an order that is consistent across ...

Like Steven Shull said, you can't do exactly what you're asking. However, you can include Zone as a column in a custom lookup, if your data allows. Then you can at least filter by Zone in the lookup, which is nearly just as good as what you were originally looking for. ------------------------------ ...

Obviously, we recommend keeping Maximo's metadata, which will include the view's query, as synchronized with reality as possible. And there are steps you can take to reduce the pain of recreating the imported object, like having a data-load of XML to put the descriptions and titles back. That said, as ...

I would like to set the console identity from a script. Some documentation from IBM suggests that the console is a Deployment called "isclite", and there is a property called "ISC.CONSOLE.ID.CUSTOM" that has the value I want to see and manipulate. How would I go about drilling in to that property? - ...

Thanks to all. I do have "command assistance" turned on, and I have used it extensively. What I'm hearing is that my current configuration is probably saving as much in terms of mouse clicks and typing as is possible. Maybe IBM's liaison with Red Hat will get us all a better wsadmin command prompt, like ...
