It was great to be back in person for our latest user group meeting. This time hosted in a festive Edinburgh. Old friends and new acquaintances met at our successful networking event.
It was chilly in Edinburgh but a summers day in comparison for Steve Marshall (British Antarctic Survey). He demonstrated the resilience and safety impact of their Maximo systems in the harsh sub-zero environments. The polar caps and the recent COP26 had us thinking sustainably. For our next presentation Russell Bee (IBM) discussed Maximo's future developments such as the Role Based Applications.
Our hybrid model was new but worked a treat for Peter Mullen (Breedon Cement) as he discussed a simple, pain free mobile implementation along with Graham Drinkwater (Vetasi). Lisa Stuckless (IBM) closed out the hybrid presentations with an insight into the MAS 8 roadmap with plenty of interest around the licencing model. Rounding off the presentations was Stuart Whitfield (South Staffs Water) and Rick Scott (BPD Zenith). They highlighted the business benefits optimisation brought to South Staffs Water during their upgrade.
Table topics returned, our favourite part of the day to get those discussions started. Users had time to ask those burning questions directly to the experts. Even the hybrid approach was a success thanks to our glamourous assistants!
On behalf of the committee, thank you again to our sponsors, users and partners who make this happen. If you have any feedback or wish to get involved please get in touch. Next May we set sail for Belfast and hope to see you all there. All presentations can be found on the library Maximo User Group - UK & Ireland - IoT (ibm.com)
