APIs authored in IBM App Connect Designer can now be deployed into your private cloud

You can now combine the ease of authoring flows for APIs in IBM App Connect Designer with the flexibility of deploying into your own private cloud. Previously, the managed cloud service had been the only valid deployment target for a Designer-authored flow, but this is all changing.

When exporting flows for an API from the Designer dashboard, we’ve added the option to export a flow that can be deployed as an IBM App Connect integration server.

If you select the Export for integration server (BAR) option, the flow is exported as a BAR file, which can be deployed to an integration server and managed in exactly the same way as any integration that was created in the IBM App Connect Enterprise Toolkit. You can also take advantage of the ‘Push REST APIs to IBM API Connect’ capability that was released in IBM App Connect Enterprise Version 11.0.0.5.

The ability to run Designer flows in an integration server is available in IBM Cloud Pak for Integration (Version 2019.3.1, or later) or when using the IBM App Connect Enterprise certified container (Version 2.1.0, or later). If you’re using App Connect Enterprise within IBM Cloud Pak for Integration Version 2019.4.1 (or later), you can also run a subset of the connectors locally.
