There is a trial version you could use to evaluate it. It is very powerful and allows easy manipulation and routing of the request. There are various addons like web application firewall and ssl offloading. https://www.f5.com/trials ------------------------------ Rab McGill ------------------------ ...

Hi Nick, I would suggest each admin has their own copy of MQ explorer. There are installation packages for Windows an Linux. Each admin would have their own copy of the WMQ_Handles.xml, either maintained by themselves or copied down from say a content management system. There could be multiple versions ...

Nick, In answer to you email. Adding a queue manager to MQ Explorer via the GUI will also update the WMQ_Handles.xml, but can be manually updated too (make sure MQ explorer is closed if editing the file). the file on windows is located somewhere like C:\Users\name\IBM\WebSphereMQ\workspace\.metada ...

Hi, We use MQ Explorer to administer MQ to a certain extent. It is a GUI so we do no use it for mass administration. Each of the admins (about 8 of us) has a copy of of MQ explorer installed and a copy of centrally managed WMQ_Handles.xml file. We have about 1000 queue managers defined in this file. ...

Hi, According to the Knowledge centre https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSMKHH_10.0.0/com.ibm.etools.mft.doc/an01310_.htm "You can also use the IBM Integration Toolkit to start and stop tracing on remote systems." I can not see a way to start a trace at all from the V10 toolkit. Basically ...

We have one team covering mainframe and distributed (Windows, RHEL, AIX and iseries). We get help doing the installs/patching on Mainframe and iSeries. It works pretty well, some of us have more in-depth knowledge of a particular OS than others but for day to day support that knowledge is not usually ...

Hi, Is it possible to grant create authority to a group of users allowing them to create a limited set of queues e.g. ABC.**. The MQ documentation (https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSFKSJ_9.0.0/com.ibm.mq.sec.doc/q013590_.htm) says "Granting +crt for queues indirectly makes the ...

The windows event viewer is a good place to start. Look in the Windows log -> Application section, you should see IBM Integration messages. Rab.

A solution might be put disabling the queue you don't want the messages on. The workload management should not then route it to the queue. https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSFKSJ_9.0.0/com.ibm.mq.tro.doc/q039350_.htm

Another option might be to use a load balancer like F5 Big-IP to create a VIP that can route to the live instance of the Multi-instance queue manager. The MQ client application would then potentially not need to be changed..

True, but in our organisation there are policies about sharing passwords that can lead to dismissal, it is a more mature process and it is drummed into people not to share them. I cannot say the same for certificates, but other organisations may have the same discipline with them though.

I agree that digital certificates are a much stronger type of authentication but managing/controlling them can be a challenge, how do you stop people sharing them for example. Using a corporate LDAP, control of userid and passwords is likely to already be in place.
