I'm being asked to learn MQ.  I'd like to set up some type of test/learning environment at home/office, install MQ and then start going through MQ tutorials.  I've been an Oracle DBA for 20+ years, SA for just over a year and need to learn MQ.  No idea how to start.  Is there a starter kit how-to, is there a downloadable test environment, etc.  Most of our servers are linux.  Any help would be appreciated.

It might be worth taking a look at some of the content here: https://bzb.tools.ibm.com/TechCon2023
But perhaps too in depth at the moment.

    Hi Eric,

You may also like to take a look at https://www.mqgem.com/training.html including the free starter course

You can download a free edition of MQ to play with, including for x86 linux - collection of download links at the bottom of https://mqgem.wordpress.com/ibm-mq-resources/

    Cheers,

On top of all the excellent recommendations, I always have newbies start with the official IBM MQ Primer - http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redpapers/pdfs/redp0021.pdf for a mid-level introduction to MQ and messaging.

    I hope this helps.

Based on your post, it sounds like you might be more interested in learning MQ Administration as opposed to development for MQ. I haven't taken this course myself, but I've been told it's a decent starting point: https://www.ibm.com/training/path/ibmmqv9.1

That one is from IBM, but Udemy also offers a few courses. Again, I haven't done this course, but at $19, you could whip through it and see if it's decent. The ratings on Udemy are pretty good. https://www.udemy.com/course/ibm-mq-advanced-administration-training-by-mohankrishna/

    Hope that helps.
