We want to deploy ACE12 in Openshift in Azure. And connect to an Azure (Microsoft) managed database.
MS SQL Server 2019 is supported, but can we select Azure SQL Paas also as our database?
Or are other databases supported in Azure?

I hope someone can clarify. For us it is not clear in the documentation right now.

    Thanks

    Hello,

    Hope you're well!

Great to hear you're looking to deploy ACE12 into OpenShift in Azure. There's a few options for that such as Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) which is their managed service offering. You can also go self managed if you wish but there's more information about that here - https://www.redhat.com/en/technologies/cloud-computing/openshift#cloud-services-editions

Are you referring to the available connectors that allow connection to Azure based databases? Could you share more information on how you're trying to connect to the database? Are you trying to use some of our connectors or are you writing your own flow? It would be great if you could share some more information about how you're trying to connect to Azure and which part of the product you're wanting to use.

Could you please clarify what documentation you're referring to? If there's a particular section that isn't clear please let me know and I can get this improved.

    Thanks

I will try to rephrase my question.

The documentation I am referring to was achieved via https://www.ibm.com/software/reports/compatibility/clarity/prereqsForProduct.html for App Connect Enterprise (latest version: 12.0.7.0) and the item "databases".

In the list a number of databases were mentioned, but not a specific Azure managed database such as Azure SQL Paas.

We are storing data in a database to be used in specific message flows. Routing information, static lists, temp storage of e.g. a correlation id, etc. Data to be used in message flows. Not a database as starting point or endpoint of a message flow.

In our current on-prem setup we are storing that data also in a database. So we would like to use a same mechanism in the cloud, but prefer a Microsoft managed database like Azure SQL Paas over a self-managed database like e.g. SQL Server 2019.

I hope this gives some more context to my question.

My conclusion right now is that if you want to use a database for your ACE platform deployment on OpenShift in Azure, you should not use a Microsoft Paas offering like Azure SQL Paas, but use an IaaS approach: install e.g. SQL Server 2019 on a VM and connect ACE to that database to store message flow data.

Azure SQL Paas might work, but there is no formal support from IBM.

It seems that there is no particular experience in deploying ACE in Azure and connect to a specific Azure managed database (Paas).
