  • 1.  A lot of bugs in App Connect installed on Kubernetes environment

Hello guys, first of all i want to say that I have been working with IBM Integration Products about a 5 years.

I've seen AppConnect being used in large companies, like financial services, e-commerces and more.

But im starting to feeling frustrated when I'm dealing with a costumer against some other products from the Market, like n8n, zapier and other tools.

More recently I started a proof of concept with a Costumer, he wanted to install AppConnect on a k8s vanilla environment, using AWS as a the cloud provider.

The first bug that I've notice is that AppConnect SSO with Keycloak doesn't work with the most recent versions of Keycloak, I opened a case and with some engineers from Integration Team we discovered that the "effective-client-role" stops working and we don't know why, but, I asked to IBM Team to update the documentation specifying the Keycloak version that work, but this haven't been done until today, it's been about two weeks ago. Another thing that is strange, how anyone didn't realize this? Sounds like anyone is using the product, but ok.

The second "bug", there's no documentation about installing AppConnect in a AWS Environment using EKS, AWS has some specifics that need to be documented.

The third bug, when you're logged in the Dashboard or Designer, there's no logout button!!! The costumer asked me, how do I do a logout? I wanted the earth to open and swallow me.

The fourth bug, when some problem occur AppConnect redirects you to a "/failure" page, that's ok, right? No!! Because, if you reload the Page he keeps redirecting you to a "/failure", not to /login or /home like it's supposed to be.

The fifth bug, looks like the deployments from AppConnect Dashboard and AppConnect Designer is broken! Doesn't have the necessary labels, if you use Kiali to monitor your cluster, you're going to see a lot of warnings of missing labels, deployments doesn't have the most simple label "app".

The sixth "bug", this is not a bug but I think its need some improves, if we have the Helm Chart installation, why we have to deal with a LOT of yaml file?

The seventh bug, even with the "spec.imagePullSecrets.name" the Designer still giving error of "secret not found".

So, I want to discuss, what's happening with the product? We're focusing in IA and some another buzzwords but we're forgetting the most important to a company, Integration.

    I attached some screenshots.

    This is just a rant.

Keycloak + ACE bug. The documentation still not updated.

    Wheres the logout button?

    Where's the logout button?

The number of .yml files that I needed to make this work.

    ImagePullSecrets bug.

    ImagePullSecrets bug.

Where's the most simple label "app" to another applications identify what application from deployment receives the workload?

    Hello, Venkat!

I'm sorry to hear that, unfortunately the documentation about installing APP Connect on K8S is not so good.

I don't have a ready-guide to install like I did for Linux/Container, however, reach me out on Linkedin and I will be glad to help!

My Linkedin profile is on my IBM Community Profile.
