Group Detail: This MQ User Group was established in 1998 by an IBM employee, Jenny Chow. A user group committee was formed during the first meeting. The website was created in 1999. It has become one of the largest and longest running user groups world-wide. Currently, we have over 1,000 members.

The NY/NJ Hybrid Cloud IBM MQ & Integration User Group is designed to provide Hybrid Cloud MQ & Application Integration professionals, users and consultants a forum to share ideas, experiences and expertise related to Hybrid Cloud IBM MQ, IBM Integration Bus and other IBM Integration products and complimentary tools.

Please join our NY/NJ Hybrid Cloud IBM MQ & Integration User Group all day event. The Seminar, free of charge, will be held at ISO/Verisk from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. You will meet with other IT professionals and managers in your field, learn the new messaging and integration technologies, and share experiences. The event is sponsored by Nastel who provides the meals. The meeting site is donated by ISO/Verisk.

Title:  Dockerizing MQ&IIB at Daimler North America  (Presentation posted here.)

Abstract: Started on an Ubuntu laptop in 2016, MBUSA’s MQ/IIB team has moved forward with containerizing MQ and IIB in Docker on RHEL. Despite Kubernetes establishment as the preferred container provisioning tool, for MQ & IIB, MBUSA decided Docker Swarm is a more appropriate platform due to its simplicity and ease of use. Ben will share with the audience their approach and experience.

Title: Solving Everyday Middleware Problems with AIOps  (Presentation posted here)

Abstract: Today’s middleware environments are a combination of planned evolution plus a lot of “just make it work” components. When something goes wrong it can feel like trying to find a needle in a haystack, or more accurately, “finding a needle in a stack of needles.” Where do you start looking when the problem statement starts with “my order was lost?” Is a message sitting on an MQ queue? Did a broker flow fail and send the request to an error node? Did a MFT transfer specify the wrong file name and not get processed? In these situations any of your middleware components could be at fault, and finding them using traditional tools is time consuming and sometimes nearly impossible. This session will define several use cases where AIOps (Artificial Intelligence for IT Operations) can be applied as a solution.

Abstract: This session explores the myths and realities of microservices in relation to integration architecture.  Microservices are as much a new approach to application architecture as they are a return to well-known good practices of isolation and decoupling. The complexities are all the more apparent when comparisons are drawn with evolved integration architecture concepts. The "ESB" concept is often derided in microservices architecture. Is the pattern completely invalid or does it still have its place? Messaging is the silent but essential partner that is key to decoupling among microservice components. But what type of messaging should you use where?  Where do APIs fit into the picture?  What different categories of API are present?

Abstract: Most people think messages flow through MQ, IIB, DataPower, etc., but it’s really business on the move. That is, a bank transfers payments, a supplier processes orders, a retailer sells their goods, and so on.  Simply watching queue depth using MQ Explorer or other basic tools is not enough to understand the trends that impact your business. Nastel’s AutoPilot goes beyond traditional analytics and uses machine learning, predictive analytics, and real-time streaming data analysis to better manage your middleware technology and visually relate how IT performance affects the achievement of business objectives.
