End of Support of IBM App Connect on IBM Cloud SaaS Managed Service - Effective 30, November 2023

The purpose of this blog is to clarify and provide additional details regarding the plans that are affected by the deprecation and end of Service of the IBM App Connect on IBM Cloud service which was announced on 15th December 2022.

The IBM App Connect on IBM Cloud SaaS service will be End of Support on Nov 30, 2023.  After Nov 30, 2023, current provisioned instances will no longer be functional or available. Depending on the current entitlement and usage existing customers will need to evaluate alternative offerings and migrate, see more details below. Customers not using the Designer component on IBM Cloud can ignore the rest of this blog. Customers using Studio to create integration projects and deploy to the Cloud (IBM App Connect Professional Live) using the Management Console are not affected as this service will continue unaffected.

  • Customers using Studio to create integration projects, and deploy to the Cloud (IBM App Connect Professional Live) using the Management Console are not affected and can continue with the same entitlement and their existing tenants will continue to run.

  • Customers who are using the Designer component of IBM App Connect Professional on IBM Cloud to create flows and run on IBM Cloud must review the options below and plan to migrate before Nov 30, 2023. After Nov 30, 2023 the service will be end of support and users will no-longer be able to access or run their flows.

  • Going forward entitlement to Designer component of IBM App Connect on IBM Cloud will be removed from the Cloud Service Agreement for App Connect Professional.

  • Users will no longer be able to create new IBM App Connect Professional on IBM Cloud Custom Professional plan instances from IBM Cloud Catalog.

After Nov 30, 2023 the service will be end of support and users will no-longer be able to access or run their flows.

  • Customers using Studio to create integration projects, and deploy to the Cloud (App Connect Professional Live) using the Management Console will need to switch entitlement to App Connect Professional VPC listed above to continue to use their existing Tenants.

  • At renewal customers will need to purchase net new entitlement depending on the option selected below.

  • Users will no longer be able to create new instances of IBM App Connect Enterprise on IBM Cloud subscription plans from the IBM Cloud Catalog.
  • Customers using App Connect Enterprise (ACE) SW on-premise only will need to transition entitlement to ACE perpetual parts at renewal.
  • Customers using the Designer component of IBM App Connect Enterprise on IBM Cloud to create flows and/or to deploy Toolkit BAR files on IBM Cloud must review the options below and plan to migrate before Nov 30, 2023. After Nov 30, 2023 the service will be end of support and users will no-longer be able to access or run their flows. At renewal customers will need to purchase net new entitlement depending on the option selected below.
  • Customers using Studio to create integration projects, and deploy to the Cloud (App Connect Professional Live) using the Management Console will need to switch entitlement to App Connect Professional VPC listed above to continue to use their existing Tenants.

  • Customers using this plan to invoke Designer flows running on IBM Cloud will need to evaluate the options below and purchase new entitlements.

Timeline:  

On 15th December 2022 we announced end of support of App Connect on IBM Cloud. Current provisioned instances of the SaaS service will be End of Support on Nov 30, 2023.  After Nov 30, 2023, the service will no longer be available.  Your data will be available for migration until the End of Support date.  Read our detailed documentation to assist you to export and import your flows with the provided tooling.   

  

Alternative Options: 

Organisations have multiple alternatives available to evaluate:  

  • Option 1: App Connect Enterprise as a Service is a multi-tenant SaaS offering with isolation for deployed integration flows, with access to Designer, Toolkit and the latest features for App Integration. This is hosted by IBM on AWS.  

  • Option 2: Self-managed App Connect software deployed on IBM Cloud (ROKS or IKS) with newer, richer set of capabilities at competitive price point. This is a software solution that you deploy yourself with choice and flexibility in deployment.  

  • Option 3: IBM Essentials Management (Expertise Connect) managed service on client’s choice of cloud infrastructure from IBM.
